Alexander IV – Long Way From Home feat. Pete Josef
Dutch producer and multi-instrumentalist Alexander IV returns with “Long Way from Home”, the final single ahead of his debut album Alchemist, out March 2026 via Sonar Kollektiv.
Featuring label mate and UK singer-songwriter Pete Josef, the track brings together Afrobeat-inspired rhythms, rich brass arrangements, and soulful vocal harmonies in one of the album’s most expansive moments. Built around layered percussion and a Fela Kuti–style guitar riff, “Long Way from Home” blends groove, atmosphere, and emotional depth.
Alexander IV — the alias of Joris Feiertag (also known for his work as Feiertag and as drummer for Kraak & Smaak) — created the track through an unusually long and evolving process. What began as a studio groove built around live Afrobeat percussion slowly grew into something much bigger.
“Normally when I start a track, 90% of it is done within a day or two. This one was the complete opposite,” Joris explains. “It started with Afrobeat percussion and a Fela-style guitar riff. For a long time it was just a groove, and I wasn’t sure if it belonged on the album. Then Pete Josef added these beautiful vocal lines, and later trumpet player Luuk Hof came in and completely transformed the track. It’s not a typical song structure, but that’s exactly what I love about it.”
The result is a hypnotic and soulful track that perfectly captures the spirit of Alchemist: organic, cinematic, and deeply rooted in groove culture.
With influences ranging from Fela Kuti to SAULT, Thievery Corporation, and Kruder & Dorfmeister, Alexander IV continues to explore the intersection of jazz, soul, hip-hop, and global rhythms — turning fragments of sound into something cohesive and deeply musical.
Alchemist arrives March 27th 2026 on Sonar Kollektiv.
