WAAN – Lodge Texas
Second Single from Upcoming Album “We Want WAAN”
Following the introspective pulse of “Talking Trees,” WAAN shift gears with their second single “Lodge Texas” — a bold, uptempo piece that continues to push the boundaries of jazz, electronic, and rhythm-forward experimentation.
Built around an infectious 9/4 groove, “Lodge Texas” merges jazz precision with dancefloor energy. Layered alto flutes form a warm, synth-like texture that blurs the lines between acoustic and electronic, while the distorted saxophone threads a melodic line through shifting time signatures. Driving it all is the airtight rhythm section, with drummer Mark Schilders and percussionist Timothy van der Holst locking in with bassist Matteo Mazzù for a hypnotic, forward-thrusting foundation.
Originally sparked on the island of Texel and developed during sessions at Eminent Studios, “Lodge Texas” reflects WAAN’s playful yet deeply focused approach to songwriting. “We wanted to create something people could really move to,” they explain. “But we also love to explore — how can we break a groove open and take it somewhere unexpected?”
Once again, WAAN team up with trusted producer Oscar de Jong (Kraak & Smaak) to sculpt a sound that’s both genreless and unmistakably theirs — adventurous, high-fidelity, and full of texture.
We Want WAAN, out January 23rd, 2026, promises more of this boundary-pushing spirit. If “Talking Trees” was the breath, “Lodge Texas” is the heartbeat.
