Sumo – Hokori
With Hokori German musician Sumo from Stuttgart celebrates his love for Garage House – a unique version of House music which has been developed in New Jersey in the early 90s and which has been further enhanced in London in the following years. However, Sumo – a producer with a special fondness for Japanese culture – creates his very own interpretation of the genre with Hokori.
Of course, the funky rattling snares and striking bass lines are very prominent here, but it‘s the sublime vocals which provides the song with a delicate note that lifts it beyond the boundaries of the genre. Besides, Sumo‘s clever way of oscillating between straight and broken beats fascinates in a very special manner and turns Hokori into a great appetizer for Sumo‘s big Ishiki EP which will be released on Sonar Kollektiv subsequently.
