STREETON – Brick & Mortar Dub
British producer and DJ STREETON continues the rollout for his forthcoming debut album Iridescence with the release of “Brick & Mortar Dub”, the third single from the project and its most club-focused statement yet.
Originally hailing from Hertfordshire before relocating to London’s thriving creative underground, STREETON has steadily built a reputation for his uplifting blend of jazz-influenced house, broken beat and Afro-Latin rhythms. Following releases on respected labels including Dance Regular, Darker Than Wax, To The Rock and Boogie Café, alongside appearances at We Out Here Festival and broadcasts for Rinse FM and Voices Radio, he has become one of the most exciting new voices emerging from the UK’s soulful electronic scene.
Where previous singles “The Waters” and “Where We Started” explored the warmer, more melodic side of Iridescence, “Brick & Mortar Dub” dives headfirst into the dancefloor.
Driven by fractured broken beat rhythms, persistent percussion, vibrant street ambience and a winding bassline, the track draws inspiration from Jamaican dub, bashment, Brazilian funk and Afro-Latin grooves while remaining unmistakably rooted in London’s bruk culture.
Speaking about the track, STREETON explains:
“I wanted a track on the album with a bit more rough and tough energy to it. Around the time of making Brick & Mortar Dub I was listening to loads of dub and bashment and a lot of Latin music, high-energy samba stuff and Brazilian funk too. I’ve always had a soft spot for house and broken beats that pull from Afro-Latin styles and love reworking those ideas and rhythms into more club-focused tracks.”
The title reflects exactly that intention:
“Brick & Mortar Dub felt grounded and urban without any wash. A solid, club-focused dub that can carry the energy of the album to the dancefloor.”
The result is a powerful meeting point between the heritage of Jamaican sound system culture and the syncopated pulse of broken beat. Raw, rhythmic and built for movement, it reveals another side of Iridescence while staying true to the warmth and musicality that define STREETON’s sound.
“Brick & Mortar Dub” is the third chapter in the journey towards Iridescence, STREETON’s debut album, arriving via Sonar Kollektiv in March 2027.
