Roland Appel – The Remixes Vol. 1

Following his new album, Talk To Your Angel (SK188CD/elektrish), ROLAND APPEL now returns with a remix 12″ containing 2 hot new mixes of tracks taken from the album. The opening track from the album, Inner Soul (slow version) was included on the recent JAZZANOVA compilation marking Sonar’s 200th release (SK200). ROLAND APPEL rose to fame as a member of FAUNA FLASH with his long-time partner and friend CHRISTIAN PROMMER with whom he also formed TRÜBY TRIO (together with RAINER TRÜBY). He’s released his own tracks and remixes on renowned labels such as Compost Records, G-Stone Recordings and !K7. APPEL also worked with PROMMER and PETER KRUDER on the sublime electronica of VOOM:VOOM. New Love is one of the highlight tracks from APPEL’s new album, Talk To Your Angel (SK188CD/elektrish), and the TUFF CITY remix is nothing short of outstanding. ARABA WALTON’s vocals have been looped to perfection and the whole thing wrapped up in a perfectly irresistible house groove, making this a priceless remix – a nice dance-floor opener.
ROLAND APPEL’s track Dark Soldier was the insider hit of the 2007 Miami Winter Music Conference and found its way into the bags and the charts of the biggest DJs in the world including DJ HELL, LAURENT GARNIER, PETE TONG, TIEFSCHWARZ, MICHAEL MAYER, EWAN PEARSON, DIXON, GILLES PETERSON, DJ T and many more. Even UK’s most important music magazines like Mixmag, Fact and I-DJ acclaimed it and made it track of the month last summer! DJ KAWASAKI’s remix of this masterpiece is a frantic, jumpy number, very close to UR productions and ideal for the prime time. The Japanese DJ who’s own album You Can Make It came out on Colombia Japan earlier this year gives Dark Soldier a brand-dance spin but holds on to just enough of that all important groove. ROLAND APPEL had two 12″s on Sonar Kollektiv last year, Unforgiven (SK168/elektrish) and Dark Soldier / Changes (SK158/elektrish). Inner Soul also came out in 2008 as a single (SK178/elektrish), but this latest ROLAND APPEL remix 12″ is the best yet with two fresh and exclusive new mixes of tracks from his recent album.
