Recloose – Deeper Waters feat. Joe Dukie
Perfect Timing, RECLOOSE’s new studio album, takes in everything from heaving funk anthems to reclining beats. Deeper Waters is a sublime reggae track taken from the album. It features JOE DUKIE of FAT FREDDY’s DROP fame on vocals. With remixes from FROST&WAGNER and YES KING aka RHYS ADAMS, plus a live version of Turkish Delight, this is an essential 12″.
RECLOOSE aka MATTHEW CHICOINE’s career got off to a jump start when techno pioneer CARL CRAIG released his 1st album Cardiology on Planet E. Since then his eclectic DJ sets have led RECLOOSE to become an in-demand DJ, playing at clubs around the world as well as performing as a turntablist for CARL CRAIG’s Innerzone Orchestra.
RECLOOSE formed his 8-piece band in 2005 and Turkish Delight shows just what they can do as it was recorded live in Wellington, NZ. The funky tune 1st appeared on Hiatus On The Horizon (Peacefrog Records, 2005) and this version is taken from Backwards and Sideways on RECLOOSE’s own Fingertips imprint. The band have thrilled crowds at many festivals as well as Fabric London and GILLES PETERSON’s Worldwide show.
While RECLOOSE himself has remixed the likes of HERBERT, TOWA TEI, MJ COLE and AZYMUTH, the B-side sees him get the remix treatment by FROST&WAGNER and YES KING. Both tracks bring out the warm reggae vibe of Deeper Waters. FROST & WAGNER, who have remixed artists such as TOSCA, EVA BE, CLARA HILL and JAN DELAY, just released their Remixes compilation on Best Seven (SBCD0009/dem roots).
Deeper Waters feat. Joe Dukie is the closing number on RECLOOSE’s new album Perfect Timing on Sonar Kollektiv. This single stands proud on its own right – with everything from a live track to classic dubby remixes, it’s the perfect 12″ to accompany the new album.
