
Modha – River feat. Àbáse & Fanni Zahár
Sonar Kollektiv is proud to present “River,” the captivating new single by Modha — a Berlin-based duo whose work blurs the lines between jazz, hip-hop, R&B, and soulful experimentation. This release marks the first glimpse into their upcoming second album, At Your Pace, due March 13th, 2026.
Following their critically acclaimed 2023 debut Through The Cycle, which explored mental health and emotional resilience through a deeply collaborative and genre-fluid lens, Modha — comprised of drummer-producer Dhanya Langer and multi-instrumentalist Maximilian Scholl — return with a sound that is even more raw, intuitive, and resolutely personal. Where their first album created space for dialogue around anxiety and trauma, At Your Pace embraces the act of slowing down, working with intention, and rejecting the relentless pace of modern life.
“River” is a perfect introduction to that ethos. Featuring Hungarian producer-keyboardist Àbáse and flautist Fanni Zahár, the song flows gently through layered percussion, dreamy synths, and melodic flute lines — conjuring a moment of serenity that feels rare and necessary. The track was born from a live studio session at Berlin’s Brewery Studios, capturing the effortless connection between the four musicians.
Àbáse is the solo project of Szabolcs Bognár, a classically trained jazz pianist, producer, and DJ based in Berlin since 2018. His moniker, drawn from the Yorùbá word for “collaboration” or “community,” reflects the core of his work: collective effort and creative dialogue. Blending West African and Afro-Brazilian traditions with jazz, hip-hop, and electronic production, Àbáse builds bridges between musical cultures through improvisation and deep groove.
Budapest-based Fanni Zahár is a flautist and multi-instrumentalist known for her versatility across genres like jazz, afrobeat, and folk. She is a member of SoulClap Budapest, Ethnofil, and The Mabon Dawud Republic — Hungary’s first afrobeat ensemble led by Nigerian musician Dele Sosimi — and frequently collaborates with Àbáse on boundary-pushing projects that span continents and cultures.
At Your Pace continues Modha’s practice of working with trusted collaborators to shape their sonic identity. Like its predecessor, the new album was recorded across Berlin and Limburg and features contributions from okcandice, Wakai, James Chatburn, Allysha Joy, and Conic Rose. But this time, the message is clear: creativity doesn’t need to be rushed to be powerful.
With “River,” Modha offer an invitation — to pause, to breathe, and to move at your own rhythm.
