Markus Enochson – Endless Dance / Tonight The Night
MARKUS ENOCHSON from Stockholm easily counts as one of the driving forces behind the international house scene. He has released on Compost, Fabric and not least of all on LOUIE VEGA and KENNY „DOPE“ GONZALEZ’ label Masters At Work, and with his own productions and countless remixes stands for a variant of the genre that is particularly soulful.
MARKUS ENOCHSON has also got a long history with Sonar Kollektiv. Early releases (Got To Let You Know, SK035) and compilation tracks (SK070CD) led to the release of his album Night Games (SK112CD/LP) which came out in September 2006.
Now following 2 previous 12inches from the album (For You To See (SK113), remixed by TIGER STRIPES and Day And Night (SK114) remixed by ALIX ALVAREZ) comes the latest offering to fuel the dance floor.
Tonight The Night (vocals by JOCELYN MATHIUE) even appears on this 12“ in its original and light-footed R’n’B version as well as the edit by the Japanese team QUASIMODE. Similar to the way legendary Brazilian band AZYMUTH made their NU-SPIRIT-HELSINKI track „Seis Por Ocho“ (SK023), QUASIMODE have taken the vocals from the original and recorded a whole new backing using a fully live band. Latin basslines, percussion, piano and a horn section create driving track full of musicality.
KARIZMA’s remix of Endless Dance is much more electronic. He has delivered a vocal mix as well as a dub of this track. The house groove is loosened up with breaks. This and the growling bassline prove that the incredibly well networked MARKUS ENOCHSON always has a hand in the choice of his remixers.
By the way, another 12inch with remixes of tracks taken from Night Games is due soon. And the coming edits are by none other than CHARLES WEBSTER und EVA BE.
