Markus Enochson – Day And Night (w/ James Ingram)
MARKUS ENOCHSON needs few words of introduction as the Swede who has previously released on MASTERS AT WORKS has already come to be known in most circles as an institution in house. His continuing search for new variants of soul have taken his focus from house, via flirts with break beat and R´n´B, full circle back to his rave and techno roots which one can still hear from time to time. Originally inspired by the classic New York Style, on his forthcoming album “Night Games”, MARKUS ENOCHSON breaks the genre boundaries and opens himself up for new experiments. Born in 1975, ENOCHSON has been producing since his childhood and today belongs to the scene’s key players.
In the early 80s singer JAMES INGRAM sung on QUINCY JONES legendary album “The Dude” for which he even received the Grammy Award for best R´n´B Vocal Performance. Through duets with GLORIA ESTEFAN, PATTI AUSTIN, DOLLY PARTON und KENNY ROGERS and even BARRY WHITE he has been a chart topper to this day. The vocal tracks for “Day and Night” were already recorded over 5 years ago, but at that time MARKUS ENOCHSON didn’t feel technically equipped to do this great voice justice. After about 20 versions here is the result and it combines the crystalline voice of JAMES INGRAM with a classic house basis which, in this form, will never go out of fashion.
Man of the moment ALIX ALVAREZ provides the remix. With his SOLE Channel imprint he is currently delivering a sound which is getting heavy plays and not just confined to house floors. He grew up in the Bronx, New York, where, under the influence of TIMMY REGISFORD’s Club Shelter, he found his own niche. Productions with his mate Mr. V, OSUNLADE and LEM SRINGSTEEN from MOOD II SWING prove that he too is in the top league. His highly accessible mix if ideal for peak-time play on the main floor of any club and so this is the perfect dance soundtrack to the late summer.
