Jono McCleery – Remixes
Jono McCleery’s ‘Remixes’ EP Brings a New Dimension to ‘Reconcile’
Following the critically acclaimed release of Reconcile, British singer-songwriter Jono McCleery presents ‘Remixes’, a six-track EP that reimagines his deeply personal album through the lens of an eclectic selection of producers. Set for release on June 6th via Sonar Kollektiv, the EP features a dynamic reworking of McCleery’s sound, blending folk, soul, and electronic elements with fresh perspectives from some of the most innovative names in the scene.
The EP opens with Beau Diako’s remix of ‘I Try to Remember’—a self-taught musician, producer, and guitarist from the south coast of England—, a delicate yet rich reinvention that infuses McCleery’s heartfelt composition with dreamy guitar lines and lush textures, reflecting Diako’s signature indie, jazz, and neo-soul sound. Known for his distinctive guitar work, Diako has collaborated with artists such as Tennyson, Lido, Jordan Rakei, and Galimatias, and has been part of projects like Zoology and Pigarette. Drawing inspiration from artists like Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens, and James Blake, his genre-blurring approach is evident in this remix.
Joseph Ashworth steps in with two versions of his remix of ‘Only You’, offering both a full-length and an edit of his hypnotic and cinematic take. Ashworth’s deep, melodic house and techno sensibilities bring an immersive pulse to McCleery’s introspective ballad, introducing a dancefloor-ready dimension while maintaining the track’s emotional core.
Bringing a bold and dynamic energy, Philippa delivers her rework of ‘To See You Again’, injecting the track with soulful groove and a driving rhythm that makes it an uplifting standout.
On the title track, Fybe:One explores experimental beats and intricate electronic textures, reshaping ‘Reconcile’ into a fluid and immersive soundscape while preserving McCleery’s evocative vocals.
Closing out the EP, Royce Wood Junior—a London-based musician, songwriter, and record producer—offers his distinctive take on ‘Like I Do’, a remix that fuses elements of soul, electronic, and alternative R&B, showcasing his forward-thinking production style. As a multi-instrumentalist, he has collaborated with a litany of brilliant artists such as Nao, Disclosure, Jessie Ware, Olivia Dean, Joy Crookes, Jamie Lidell, Jordan Rakei, Jamie Woon, and Sohn.
With Remixes, Jono McCleery’s music takes on a new life, bridging intimate songwriting with electronic experimentation. This collection of reinterpretations brings Reconcile into fresh sonic territories, highlighting the transformative power of collaboration.
