
Hot Coins first single New Beat
In January the debut album “The Damage Is Done” by Hot Coins, the disco crossbreed project by Danny Berman (best known for his house productions as Red Rack’em), was released. His personal time machine journey into the sights and sounds of downtown New York sometime around the late seventies/early eighties is much more than a tribute to his heroes of those times. It’s also a brilliant examination of today’s club music.
“New Beat” is now released as the second 12inch off the album – including remixes by two of the hottest current producers. The Crazy P member Ron Basejam is one of the key players of the Nu Disco style since 2005 and released next to tons of own productions some seminal remixes for people like Bonar Bradberry, The Revenge, The White Lamp or Trujillo. His remix for “New Beat“ rockets the track full whack to disco heaven and when the slap bass sets in during mid section one is reminded almost a bit of the late great Bernard Edwards of Chic fame.
Iron Curtis is one of the busiest producers/DJs at the moment. Next to numerous releases on labels like Mirau, Morris Audio, JackOff, Retreat and Mule Electronic he remixes for instance Mano Le Tough, Tensnake, Jacob Korn or Jay Shepheard. It’s always about mastering the tightrope walk between Deep House and soulful techno the most artistic and audacious way. With his remix for Hot Coins’ “Freestyle Lover” he once again succeeds impressively. The track push-starts like a freight train on the fast lane. If there should be any club in the world in which this remix won’t cause a frenzy it has to be closed immediately!
