Flo Naegeli – Shake
Originally hailing from the Bavarian forests of southeastern Germany, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Flo Naegeli began his musical journey at the tender age of seven as a folk accordionist. By 14, inspired by Prince and Jimi Hendrix, he had switched to guitar, dedicating himself to a strict, self-imposed routine of study and practice that led to a degree in music and a professional career.
Having moved to eastern Germany, Flo stepped away from band projects to focus on solo work, embracing new technologies like Logic to fully realise his own creative vision. That path brought its challenges, including periods of self-doubt and isolation, but ultimately gave him empowerment through art and a renewed strength of purpose.
Where first single Love By The Hour was an intimate reflection on family and mental health, “Shake” takes a more kinetic turn. Written for his best friend who moved to Berlin, the track channels the rush of shared adventures, late nights, and the electric charge of connection — alongside the ache of physical distance.
“I got it all laid out in front of me,
But this time I don’t feel it.
Walking up and down the beach,
But I just can’t believe it —
Oh no.”
Musically, “Shake” builds on Flo’s soulful vocals and his multi-instrumental talents — guitar, bass, piano, synths, percussion, and drums — joined by the poignant cello of Dresden-based musician Alma Stolte. The arrangement moves between light and shadow, combining rhythmic drive with melodic warmth to create something simultaneously conscious and uplifting.
A spirited and heartfelt piece, “Shake” is a reminder that while life’s changes can unsettle us, they also spark growth, joy, and bonds that endure across distance. It stands as one of the emotional cornerstones of Lush Life EP, a record that wears its humanity proudly.
