Flo Naegeli – Lush Life EP
With Lush Life, Flo Naegeli presents his debut release on Sonar Kollektiv — a deeply personal collection of songs shaped by reflection, growth and a quiet sense of optimism.
Originally from the Bavarian forests of southeastern Germany, Flo’s musical journey began early, playing folk accordion as a child before discovering the electric guitar in his teenage years. Inspired by artists like Prince and Jimi Hendrix, he developed a disciplined approach to songwriting and musicianship that would eventually lead him to formal studies and a professional career.
After years of playing in bands, Flo turned inward, focusing on solo work and embracing self-production. Using tools like Logic, he began to shape a sound that feels both intimate and expansive — blending elements of soul, folk and indie with a strong emotional core. That process wasn’t without its challenges, but through it he found a renewed sense of clarity and purpose in his music.
Lush Life EP brings these experiences together across six tracks that explore themes of family, friendship and personal resilience. Songs like Love By The Hour and Freedom reflect on his relationships with his father and mother, while Closer captures the importance of connection in difficult moments. On Shake, Flo turns to friendship and the bittersweet feeling of distance, while Colorblind and Quiet Power offer a sense of perspective, growth and quiet affirmation.
Despite its introspective nature, the EP carries a warmth and openness throughout. Flo’s soulful vocals sit at the centre of carefully crafted arrangements, built from live instrumentation and subtle production. Much of the record was performed by Flo himself, with contributions from Stephan Salewski on drums, Jannicke Hagen on trumpet, Alma Stolte on cello, and a string quartet on Quiet Power.
The result is a record that feels both personal and inviting — music that reflects on life’s challenges without losing sight of its beauty.
