EnaWadan – Reborn w / Tuff City Kids Remix
It’s been a long time coming for Goodwill Gumede. The South African singer and musician has been working on his material for over six years under the enigmatic moniker EnaWadan before finally exhibiting his productions to a worldwide audience (thanks to Sonar Kollektiv’s signing). The spirituality of his alias (which means literally translated “I am everything in anything”) can also be heard in his creative output. His African background and heritage looms very large in his approach to produce contemporary dance music. But don’t try to limit him to his sophisticated rhythm structures. When he sings in “Reborn” with his sultry voice: “My past can’t hold me anymore… my sights are on new experiences” you can be assured he means what he says. The future looks bright for this man!
The remixes by Tuff City Kids take the track even further into night life. By boiling it down to it’s essence and transforming the voice through a vocoder “Reborn” reincarnates somewhere between Nu Disco and Deep House. The Acid Mix does what it promises: it’s simply a genuine metamorphose into a dark, pounding Acid House monster. This makes this 12″ a well-rounded package for everybody into dance music ‚no matter from which direction you’re coming from.
