Don Philippe – tension
Don Philippe releases new single “tension” – taken from upcoming album Velvet Breaks
New single out now via Sonar Kollektiv | Album release on October 10, 2025
Lo-fi producer and beat architect Don Philippe unveils his latest single “tension”, the fourth chapter in the unfolding story of his upcoming instrumental album Velvet Breaks.
Built around sparse drums, haunting textures, and subdued melodic fragments, “tension” captures the quiet pressure that builds beneath the surface — a moment suspended in time, just before release. It’s a masterclass in restraint, rooted in analog warmth and emotional nuance.
Best known as a founding member of Freundeskreis and a seasoned composer with over a decade of solo work, Philippe A. Kayser continues to explore the subtle power of mood, groove, and imperfection.
tension follows previous singles “of composition,” “exposed,” and “displacement,” each offering a glimpse into the poetic, introspective sound world of Velvet Breaks — out October 10, 2025 on vinyl and digital via Sonar Kollektiv.
