Don Philippe – displacement
Don Philippe releases third single “displacement” — taken from upcoming album Velvet Breaks
New single out now via Sonar Kollektiv | Album drops October 10, 2025
Following the meditative flow of “of composition” and the emotional rawness of “exposed,” Don Philippe returns with “displacement” — the third single from his forthcoming instrumental album Velvet Breaks, out October 10, 2025 on Sonar Kollektiv.
Built around warm analog textures, subtly shifting rhythms, and hazy melodic fragments, “displacement” captures a mood of inner drift — evoking emotional distance, memory, and fragility. Like much of the album, the track invites listeners into a quiet, contemplative space where lo-fi aesthetics meet deep musicality.
Don Philippe, real name Philippe A. Kayser, is a foundational figure in German hip-hop and a co-founder of Freundeskreis. Since 2015, he has built an international following through his introspective, instrumental releases, blending jazz, soul, and hip-hop into timeless lo-fi compositions.
Velvet Breaks will be released on vinyl and digital this fall and is available for pre-order now.
