Micatone – Yeah, Yeah, Yeah (That’s The Way It Goes)
After the releases of “Nine Songs” (SZCD0001/SZ4005) & “Is You Is” (SK004CD/SK004LP) Berlin based band Micatone around singer Lisa Bassenge (Nylon, Lisa Bassenge Trio) present their fresh and latest long player “Nomad Songs” (SK061CD/SK061LP). As usual in courtesy of Sonar Kollektiv. We could say that Nomad Songs is more mature and grown up as its predecessors. That Micatone have developed from current club music influences towards a nu-jazzy, but timeless songwriting. That Micatone have recorded all instruments live, also the drums, creating a special roughness and an organic warmth. But we don’t. We would just like to refer to Micatone’s album single “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah (That’s The Way It Goes)” (SK064CDM).
Studio mastermind and guitarist Boris Meinhold has done a radio edit of the title, which is a solid blend of smart songwriting, funk and some rare grooves. Mr. Johannes Enders (Tight & Tickled Trio) is playing the saxophone. The other titles are not to be underestimated. The laid back accoustic groove of “Out Of The Game”, which is pretty funky, though it is midtempo. Last but not least the clubby “D-D-D-D-Dance”, Lisa Bassenge’s human beatbox solo is quite remarkable and definitely worth checking. Overall, the single is a good excerpt of Micatone’s new album and we would like to recommend it to every radio dj.
