Meitz – Get On Up / Mandelbrot
Berlin-based Meitz already scored a little club hit with his debut release “Africa EP” (SA2002). After getting more involved with the Sonar Kollektiv as a session keyboarder (Dixon, Jazzanova) and producer (Twice, Georg Levin), he’s been delivering remixes and exclusive tunes e.g. for Spinning Wheel, Art Konik (Comet), Daniel Paul (Mermaid Recordings) and Peace Orchestra (G-Stone). With the 7-piece Band Meitz Septet he has started to hit the clubs live, too.
Meitz’ new EP gives you two versions of the vocal track “Get On Up” (feat. Esther Cowens), the East Berlin Mix being pretty wild off-beat business while the 80’s Haarlack Mix should satisfy those in the house department (especially when into the oh-so-hip flavour of that very decade). On the flipside is the beautifully arranged down tempo track “Mandelbrot”, featuring several woodwinds plus Micatone’s double bass player Paul Kleber. – Three totally different tracks, all reflecting parts of Meitz’ musical personality. They will leave us with big expectations for his longplayer, scheduled for next year.
