Jono McCleery, the acclaimed English singer-songwriter, is back with his eighth studio album, Reconcile. Known for his unique blend of folk, soul, and electronic influences, Jono’s music continues to evolve, drawing inspiration from both avant-garde experimentation and traditional sounds.
With a career spanning over a decade, including collaborations with artists like Maribou State, Portico Quartet, and Maceo Plex, and support from figures such as Gilles Peterson and Jamie Cullum, Jono has become a respected figure in the global music scene. His music has touched millions, with over 50 million streams on Spotify and placements in TV shows like Queen Sugar, Start Up, and This Is Us. Now, with Reconcile, he offers a deeply personal and emotive collection of songs that reflect his journey through love, loss, and self-reconnection.
About Reconcile – Jono McCleery’s 8th LP
Reconcile marks a significant turning point in Jono’s musical evolution. The album was recorded largely in isolation, allowing Jono to delve deeply into the intimate and intricate vocal arrangements he’s always wanted to explore. The result is a rich, soulful sound that combines acoustic instruments with subtle electronic textures, creating a timeless yet contemporary feel.
Jono’s decision to record Reconcile alone in a cabin surrounded by nature allowed him to fully immerse himself in the creative process, capturing a raw and unfiltered version of his art. “This album represents a restart,” Jono explains, “and I’m excited for it to be my first release with Sonar Kollektiv.”
The album’s artwork, created by Jono’s daughter, adds another layer of personal connection to the project. The design, which depicts a flower that has endured hardship yet continues to shine, mirrors the themes of resilience and hope within the music.
Track Highlights
•“The One”: A stunning opening track that combines soaring strings with Jono’s powerful vocals, transporting listeners into an otherworldly space.
•“To See You Again”: A poignant tribute to Jono’s late brother, written during a time of emotional turbulence. This song captures the raw emotion of loss and the hope for reconnection.
•“So Messed Up”: A soul-infused track that tackles global themes of disconnection from ourselves and nature, with an optimistic feel that draws from jazz and Latin influences.
•“Reconcile”: The title track, which embodies the album’s central theme of finding where you belong in the world. It fuses blues and folk with an infectious groove and heartfelt lyrics.
