Lucifour M – Dog (Official Video)
Lucifour M release their debut single ‘Dog’. Striking, soulful pop music, the Italian quartet point to parallels between the stylistic devices of French director and screenwriter Bruno Dumont, and their own musical and creative approach, elaborating further: “It’s like standing on the verge of abyss, as if peering deeply into the eyes of the impossible.”
On ‘Dog’ – the band deftly demonstrate their vision for distinctive pop music. Defying classic genre associations; playful vocal hooks manoeuvre themselves around delicate synth stabs, all to a backdrop of driving, groove-laden instrumentation.
Exploring the notion of forced conformity, the band are taking a stand. “All the time all the time / Please could you be nice?” the band sings in its rousing chorus, amidst a lively soul-tinged rhythm section. Lucifour M want to subvert expectations – and ‘Dog’ exemplifies that perfectly.
Speaking a little more on the debut single, Lucifour M said: “Dog is a sort of flux of consciousness. The song is about trying to live as you want to live in a time of domestication. “Please forget about you” is a memo to you and ourselves: try to free your mind from all the people and things that ask you to be ‘nice’ – just because they want you to behave in a certain way.”
