21 Years of Sonar Kollektiv – Jazzanova Live!
Finally grown-up! Sonar Kollektiv getting 21 years old these days is not the only reason to celebrate this occasion. The label founded during Berlin’s sensational atmosphere of departure at the end of the last century by the Jazzanova DJs has always been quite mature. Looking back awe-struck at the almost 400 (!) releases strong catalogue it strikes you how sophisticated and seasoned it is – from the beginning on and somehow unexceptionally.
The big birthday bash goes down on January, 18th 2020 in the time-honored Kesselhaus in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg. The headliner of the evening will be none other than Jazzanova in the flesh. For this special show the seven-member strong band is joined by the two singers Paul Randolph and David Lemaitre. Before and after the concert the Jazzanova DJs Alex Barck Juergen von Knoblauch and Claas Brieler, as well as a special guests will buckle down to get the party started and keep it going til the break of dawn. It’s gonna be a night to remember, for sure. At least as legendary as the 15th birthday party at the Berlin Volksbühne or the unforgettable label nights 2004 and 2006 at the Staatsoper, Unter den Linden. A night to celebrate what Sonar Kollektiv has become over all the years: An almost world-spanning platform for various creative influences, a melting pot of remarkable talents and all sort of personalities and a record label, that actually managed – against all odds – to survive for 21 years and still comes in as if it was founded yesterday. If this isn’t reason enough to toast to Sonar Kollektiv! Here’s to another 21 years of Sonar Kollektiv!
