Modha is the Berlin-based duo of Dhanya Langer and Max Scholl — a collaborative project rooted in emotional honesty, sonic exploration, and an unhurried approach to making music in an increasingly accelerated world. Blending elements of jazz, hip-hop, soul, and experimental R&B, Modha craft songs that are as intimate as they are expansive, drawing strength from imperfection and connection.
Their 2023 debut album Through The Cycle introduced a sound shaped by vulnerability, community, and lived experience. With contributions from artists like Phabo, Noah Slee, Jermaine Peterson, and okcandice, the record offered a deeply personal meditation on mental health — weaving poetry, spoken word, and soulful songwriting into a cohesive narrative of healing and resilience. The album was accompanied by a short film by Nils Hansen, underlining Modha’s interdisciplinary spirit and commitment to dialogue through art.
Their follow-up album, At Your Pace (due March 2026 via Sonar Kollektiv), continues that path with even greater clarity and calm. Recorded between Berlin and Limburg, the album explores childhood memories, emotional fragility, and the liberating act of stepping away from hustle culture. Rather than striving for slick perfection, Modha capture the energy of real-time collaboration — embracing odd time signatures, human textures, and the quiet power of musical conversation.
The duo’s collaborative ethos remains at the heart of their work, with At Your Pace featuring contributions from Wakai, Conic Rose, James Chatburn, okcandice, Àbáse, and Fanni Zahár. Whether through smoky ballads, abstract grooves, or flowing improvisations, Modha create music that makes space — for emotion, for reflection, and for simply moving at your own rhythm.
For fans of Moses Yoofee Trio, BadBadNotGood, and the soulful experimentalism of the Berlin underground, Modha are carving out their own lane — thoughtful, collaborative, and defiantly human.
