Galliano
BOOK NOW
Galliano are one of the pioneering groups of the Acid Jazz movement and among the most influential acts to emerge from London’s vibrant underground scene of the late 1980s.
Formed around vocalist and songwriter Rob Gallagher, Galliano helped define a new musical language that fused jazz, soul, funk, hip hop, poetry and club culture. As the first signing to Gilles Peterson’s legendary Talkin’ Loud label, the group became synonymous with a wider cultural movement that embraced music, fashion, art and creative experimentation.
Across a series of acclaimed releases throughout the 1990s, Galliano established themselves as one of the UK’s most innovative live acts, blending conscious lyricism, improvisation and deep grooves into a sound that remains uniquely their own.
In 2024, almost three decades after their last studio album, Galliano returned with the critically acclaimed album Halfway Somewhere on Brownswood Recordings. Featuring core members Rob Gallagher, Valerie Etienne, Ernie McKone, Crispin Taylor and Ski Oakenfull, the album reconnects the group’s pioneering spirit with today’s flourishing global jazz scene.
More than forty years after first coming together, Galliano continue to evolve while remaining true to the creativity, openness and musical curiosity that made them such an important force in British music culture.
