Producer · Multi-Instrumentalist · Beat Architect
Alexander IV is the pseudonym of Dutch producer, multi-instrumentalist, and drummer Joris Feiertag. Known for his club-oriented output under the name Feiertag and as a longtime member of the acclaimed Dutch funk outfit Kraak & Smaak, Alexander IV marks a more introspective chapter in his creative journey—a space where jazz, soul, and beat culture converge.
Rooted in the aesthetics of dusty drum breaks, analog textures, and lush harmony, Alexander IV’s music draws inspiration from a lineage of crate-digging pioneers and future-facing visionaries alike: Mr. Scruff, Thievery Corporation, The Herbaliser, Tosca, Kruder & Dorfmeister, as well as modern-day artists like SAULT, Khruangbin, and Jordan Rakei.
Blending meticulous sample work with live instrumentation, Alexander IV creates soulful, cinematic compositions that bridge eras and moods. His productions often feature close collaborators from the Dutch jazz and soul scene—horn players like Bart Wirtz, Luuk Hof, Samir Saif, and double bassist Robin de Zeeuw—as well as vocalists including Cézanne, Pete Josef, Oli Hannaford, and Ursula Rucker.
After early releases such as the Westbound and Bloom EPs, Alexander IV now presents his debut album Alchemist on Sonar Kollektiv—a deeply personal and sonically rich body of work that showcases his ability to transform fragments of sound into something wholly new.
Whether beat-tape inspired or song-driven, Alexander IV’s music is defined by its warmth, depth, and detail—an ode to soulful experimentation and emotional resonance.
