Following the critical acclaim of Computer Incarnations for World Peace (SK140CD/LP) JAZZANOVA and GERD JANSON of Running Back Records team up once again for a second episode showing the recent evolution of Disco music. It features 13 gems from artists and producers, who injected some new blood in the veins of a genre that deserted the dancefloors in the 90s. This sudden eviction from the clubs is partly due to the overexposure of Disco music in the late 70s and to the use of the same music technology – computers, synthesizers, and drum machines – for other styles of music such as Chicago House and Detroit techno, more en vogue in the late 80s and the 90s. But Disco music is mythic genre that could not be left over for too long! And like a phoenix, it has reborn from its ashes in the late 90s thanks to audicious Djs and a new breed of Disco music producers, who poured various influences like Funk, House, Boogie and Brazilian music in their works.

Running Back records label honcho GERD JANSON made himself a name as a DJ playing at Frankfurt’s Robert Johnson for the past few years and as a music journalist writing for Groove and Spex amongst others. For Computer Incarnations for World Peace episode 2 (SK185CD) they stand up to their names once again with a eclectic recollection of disco pearls that deserve a broader audience such as Mahogany by Swiss Producer LEXX, To and Fro by IDJUT BOYS buddy and Noid records cohort RAY MANG from London and Shulme of PAUL MURPHY aka MUDD of Rong Music fame amongst others. The compilation also features a handful of unreleased tracks that you’ll never find anywhere else and a few other gems that are quasi-impossible to find in Europe... And this sampler (SK185EP) is the best occasion to have 4 of them on vinyl!

The first track on the EP is called Blazer of PROJECT SANDRO (aka ROLLMOTTLE and TONY WATSON) is a heavenly disco cut that will take you higher with wonderful steel-drum parts and ethereal layers of synth. It has orginally been released on ROLLMOTTLE’s own imprint Sentrall Records and was up to now almost impossible to find outside USA.

Next track is a slow motion corker with beautiful layers of pads and ever-rolling arpeggios called GRN Aventurine from French dynamic duo CHATEAU FLIGHT aka DJ GILB’R and I:CUBE of Versatile records fame. The 2 frenchies known for their ability to surprise their audience with new and unexpected sounds deliver here a very spacey nu-disco number that will surely fill the dancefloors with love!

On the flipside the music of ROLLMOTTLE is exposed a second time with the MAURICE FULTON remix of his own take a break that playfully joins the dots between Funk and Disco.

B2 is entitled Reinbågan from TODD TERJE and PRINS THOMAS is one of GERD JANSON personal favourites. With music and remixes for labels such as Rong Music, Eskimo Recordings, Bear Funk, Clone, Rekids, Compost, Feedelity, Clone and Mule Musiq amongst many others, TODD TERJE and PRINS THOMAS hardly need any introduction! The recent rebirth of disco music would have been so much different without them. This tune originally released as B-side of TERJE’s 12“ Eurodans on Soul Jazz is a superb dub-disco cover of CLOUD ONE's Don't Let My Rainbow Pass Me By. It is also a very sought-after cut, as only 60 copies of it have been pressed!
