Just A Lil’ Lovin’ (
SK045) was OUTLINES first universal hit which has just kept on growing in popularity even though the initial release had to wait two years due to sample clearance.
At first available only as a bootleg, the track was played by such illustrious DJs as GILLES PETERSON, MR. SCRUFF, KING BRITT, KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE; PETER KRUDER; LAURENT GARNIER and JOSH WINK and it’s no wonder with such an infectiously groovy number
The next hit, Listen To The Drums (
SK121 and
SK122), continued this success story in autumn 2006, especially thanks to the remixes by JAZZANOVA (incl. DIXON edit) and CHRISTIAN PROMMER (DRUMLESSON, FAUNA FLASH, TRÜBY TRIO, VOOM:VOOM) being included on the two 12"s.
Now at last the debut album by the French OUTLINES is going to be released in 2007, and to accompany the long player comes a fourth 12" which, in contrast to the previous three, focus much more on the hip hop side of OUTLINES. Waiting In Line is a swinging hymn with soulful rhythm guitar that immediately plants itself in the memory. IRFANE gets support on the mic from french MC legend BEAT ASSAILANT. Soul and hip hop are also in the foreground of the second track on this 12", I’m In Love, which has a really charming 70s vibe. For the remix of Waiting In Line they have got none other than KRAZY BALDHEAD who above all is known for his releases on highly praised French label Ed Banger.
