It might have been a little while since you last heard of the name SLOPE but DANIEL PAUL and DJ HONESTY have been more than active in their Berlin studio since the release of their sophomore album Komputa Groove (
SK055LP/
SK055CD). As a standout track featuring the exceptional voice of spiritual dancer OVASOUL 7 they chose "Ain´t Nothing Like This Feelin" to be remixed by one of their all-time favourite producers: the mighty CHARLES WEBSTER. We could start way back in the past to tell you about this legend but chances are high that this is not the first time you come across his name. Let´s reduce it to the fact that being into his second decade as a true innovator in the electronic music scene, CHARLES WEBSTER is one of the few real mould-breakers in an increasingly stale & predictable dance music world. He has sold over 100,000 albums without ever being considered 'mainstream' or having a major hit single and has toured the world with a full live band. CHARLES, whose aliases include FURRY PHREAKS, PRESENCE and REMOTE next to his new VERSION project with MARTIN ATJAZZ IVESON has also dj'ed worldwide, playing regularly in every continent, without ever having had the need to be feted by the dance media as a flavour of the month. He is comfortable making music at any tempo and straddles numerous genres (both real and imagined) with ease. Summarizing we can say that next to the influential music he releases on his own label Miso Records every DJ-Set from current tastemakers ÂME, DIXON and ALEX BARCK from JAZZANOVA features at least one of his productions.
The remix request went out quite some time ago but we were sure the result would be outstanding therefore we waited patiently but eagerly for his interpretations of the already incredible original.
Starting with the vocals the true magic of the Main Mix unfolds when the atmospheric synths kick in and instantly grab your dancing shoes. Uplifting without losing its deepness and attention to detail, the main mix works in various surroundings, intimate little floors and festival grounds as well as headphones on the way around. MARTIN ATJAZZ IVESON helped on the hypnotic Mix they both produced as VERSION. Most recently they already collaborated on their "version" for CLARA HILL´s Nowhere (I Can Go) and in the near future they will do dancefloor damage on Innervisions with a mix for ATJAZZ´ For Real.
This sure could be labelled as a CHARLES WEBSTER 12" but we are proud that the SLOPE guys came up with the idea and contributed the vocal recording to make this a deep house beauty for years to come.
