"You Know What You Want But You Won't Get It" is GEORG LEVIN's first official extract from his eagerly awaited debut album "Can't Hold Back" (
SK009CD/
SK009LP). Since he was discovered by DJ/producer team JAZZANOVA, the Berlin-based singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist has built up a reputation for quality around the globe: Songs like "When I'm With You", "(I Got) Somebody New" or "In Your Car" as well as his remixes are all timeless, tasteful and individual gems that regularly ended up on the annual Top five charts of the global DJ-elite (such as MASTERS AT WORK, JOE CLAUSSELL, TIM REGISFORD, METRO AREA, DJ SPINNA or MR SCRUFF) as well as on numerous compilations and radio shows.
1. Slightly above the average song title length, "You Know What You Want But You Won't Get It" gives proof that GEORG LEVIN can still be very funky below 120 bpm. Subtle arrangements, love for detail, an irresistible groove and an undeniable Princean influence make this tune a refreshing late-summer hit. BASEMENT JAXX immediately fell in love with the track and will give it their little extra with a remix that will be released in the near future. There is also a video-clip in the pipeline.
2. "(I Got) Somebody New" has originally been released on vinyl in fall last year and became a sought after surprise cult-hit among house and soul music lovers, especially in the New York scene. It will be honoured with a re-release by noone less than MASTERS AT WORK on their legendary MAW-label with an additional remix from their own production.
3. And last but not least: "Everything", out of the three songs the one that is most likely to represent the spirit of the forthcoming album. MELLOWBAG producer Robert Philipp and Ex-JAMES TAYLOR QARTETT-drummer Andrew McGuinness are featured here among others. GEORG LEVIN played most of the instruments and sang all vocals. Here, it becomes evident what his music is about: deep, unadulterated and honest soul, that is simply confined to quality songwriting and arrangements - and not only to the dancefloor.
