In spring 1997, MATTHEW CHICOINE, aka RECLOOSE, made contact with techno pioneer CARL CRAIG which led to the almost immediate signing of RECLOOSE to CRAIG's Planet E label. RECLOOSE released his debut album Cardiology‚ on Planet E / !K7 in 2002, to large critical acclaim. His eclectic DJ sets have led RECLOOSE to become a highly in-demand DJ, playing at clubs and festivals around the world as well as performing as a turntablist for CARL CRAIG’s Innerzone Orchestra. Recent years have seen a number of hot 12’s and a host of remixes for the likes of HERBERT, TOWA TEI, MJ COLE and AZYMUTH. From heaving funk anthems to reclining beats, RECLOOSE returned in 2008 to reclaim dance floors everywhere with his new studio album Perfect Timing and Solomon's Alive is one of many hits to be taken from the LP (SK191CD/illicity). RECLOOSE relocated to New Zealand in 2001 to plant new roots and explore new musical horizons. July 2005 saw the release of RECLOOSE's second album, Hiatus On The Horizon (Peacefrog), an album that features a host of New Zealand’s finest musicians and vocalists and spawned the dancefloor stomper Dust feat. FAT FREDDYS DROP vocalist JOE DUKIE. Since this release RECLOOSE formed the 8-piece RECLOOSE LIVE BAND which is comprised of many of the featured artists from Hiatus. Of all the tunes on Perfect Timing, Solomon's Alive perhaps more than any captures on record the energy of the RECLOOSE big band. This track sounds like an up-to-date instrumental version of Ska legends MADNESS: a fact that is helped by the wailing horns played by COLEMAN SQUAKINZ and JONATHAN CRAYFORD. MARCELLO PRETTO's scat vocals are cut up in such a way as to give the whole thing even more of a funk sound than you could possibly imagine. This Digital Kollektiv release also includes a MARK DE CLIVE LOWE remix of the sumptuous song Catch A Leaf. This is the opening track on RECLOOSE's new Perfect Timing album and the combination of MATTHEW CHICOINE's keyboards and beats with RACHEL FRASER's lyrical flow make it utterly catchy. MARK DE CLIVE LOWEs remix lifts the tempo, and the energy level to that extra level. The superb Catch A Leaf was included on the last DK release - then with an EVA BE remix.
