QUASIMODE is a 4 piece Jazz band made up of YUSUKE HIRADO (piano, keys), TAKAHIRO "matzz" MATSUOKA (percussion), TAKASHI OKUTSU (drums) and KAZUHIRO SUNAGA (Bass) not to forget the production skills of MASATO KOMATSU aka Slowly. They are based in Tokyo, Japan and are part of a fast-growing Jazz scene based around THE ROOM club in Tokyo which is run by DJ SHUYA OKINO from the KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE. QUASIMODE have had releases on Freestyle Records, Inpartment and Columbia and their latest album The Land Of Freedom also came out on Sonar Kollektiv in 2008 (SK177CD/jazz club). For this Digital Kollektiv release, QUASIMODE have been given the exclusive remix treatment by Sonar recording artists SOULPHICTION and SLOPE. SOULPHICTION's new album Do You Overstand (SK180CD / elektrish) came out on SK earlier this year. There was also a remix 12" to the album (SK190) but with his remix of Over The Horizon, the opening track on QUASIMODE's new album The Land Of Freedom, SOULPHICTION shows that he is not only a great producer of original material - he can also lend his hand well to remixing. YUSUKE HIRADO's piano riff on this tune has an irresistible hook that is sure to have you on your feet danicing. The SLOPE remix of Last Nine Days, which is also included on JAZZANOVAs recent compilation Neujazz (SK174CD/jazz club), introduces a chilled house groove to the tune: utterly danceable, this track is just what you need to liven up those late summer dance floors.
