Peter and Kerry’s journey has been one of creative evolution. Kerry Leatham, a singer, songwriter, musician, and producer from Essex, was raised by a Northern Irish mother and a Dominican father. Peter Lyons, from Southampton, spent his youth experimenting with tape recorders and hand-me-down instruments. The duo met in 2010 after signing individually to the revered UK indie label Tape Club Records, bonding over The Simpsons and Fleetwood Mac. That summer, they began playing in each other’s bands, leading to the release of their Clothes, Friends, Photos EP.

Encouraged by support from the BBC and mainstream TV, their collaboration continued, culminating in the critically acclaimed debut LP, La Trimouille, in 2012. After years of touring and working on solo projects, they reunited in 2016, only to have their resurgence interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, after a long hiatus, they return with You, Me and the Moon—a record shaped by maturity, self-awareness, and a fearless approach to storytelling.

Their latest single, I Hope That We Never Fit In, captures the duo’s evolved perspective. Inspired by a piece of graffiti near Peter’s East London studio, the phrase struck a chord with them at a time when they were struggling with writer’s block. It became the catalyst for a song that embraces self-acceptance and rejects the pressure to conform to a society that isn’t built for everyone. With its raw honesty and infectious melody, the track embodies Peter and Kerry’s ethos—embracing individuality and forging their own path.

Now signed to Berlin’s renowned Sonar Kollektiv, Peter and Kerry’s music reaches a wider audience while staying true to the fans who have supported them for over a decade. Sonically, they blend high-end digital production with vintage reel-to-reel machines, 1960s BBC ribbon microphones, phone voice memos, and toy cassette recorders—recalling Peter’s early fascination with DIY recording techniques.
