KabukiArtist Names? Kabuki, ... I released under far too many names, most notably Megashira, MK2 and Makai. YOUR NAME? Kabuki aka Jan Hennig BORN? Yes ;-) 1973 HOMETOWN? Frankfurt, Baby! STYLE? Drum&Bass with a Detroit-twist, I like any kind of music with Breaks in it. INSPIRATION? Books, Film and Music. I love Kung Fu-Flicks by the Shaw-Brothers, Fiction by Neil Stevenson and Beats by DJ Premier. INFLUENCE? Basic Channel because of their ability to let the music breathe, Paradox because he's the original Drumworker and UR because they got the right attitude. PAST? Two albums by Megashira on Infracom, two albums by Makai on Intercord and Precision and one album by MK2 on Epic. Plus more than 50 12"-releases, exclusive tracks for compilations and remixes. PRESENT? Just put the finishing touches to my first solo-album entitled "Signal To Noise" out in early 2004 on Combination Records. FUTURE? Do some more dubbed-out bits a la "After The Fire" and finally write the big D&B-hit everybody's waiting for WORLDLY WISDOM? Life is the result of the struggle between dynamic opposites |
